Dear Families and Community Partners,

At P186X, we believe that literacy is more than just reading and writing—it’s a foundational right and a lifelong tool for growth, empowerment, and transformation. Literacy enables our students to communicate with confidence, understand themselves and others, and navigate the world with independence and purpose. Through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, our learners develop the critical thinking and empathy needed to become active, informed members of their communities.

Our vision for literacy is grounded in our S.A.I.L. values—Safety, Acceptance, Independence, and Leadership. We strive to create safe, inclusive spaces where every child can see themselves in texts, strengthen their reading and thinking skills, and discover the power of their own voice. When students feel empowered to lead and contribute, they make meaningful impacts in their lives and in the world around them.
